One of the Foundation’s crowning achievements was the establishment of the Thomas Campbell Education Center at St. Christopher’s Hospital in February of 2016. The center is equipped with tables, computers, printers and a Smart Board. Patients awaiting treatment now have a dedicated space to continue their studies while in the hospital.
In 2020, the Tommy Campbell Foundation awarded four scholarships of $1,000 each to students who wanted to further their education in the medical field. Since the Foundation’s inception in 2013, a total of $30,000 in scholarships were distributed to candidates experiencing a financial burden associated with attending higher education.
Since 2015, the Tommy Campbell Foundation has donated over $6,000 to Camp Can Do Forever, a non-profit organization that provides summer camp specifically for children with cancer and their siblings. Tommy had attended there for several summers. His cousin, Jacqui McCann, has volunteered at the camp every year since 2015. She has helped to deliver hundreds of bags filled with supplies to the campers courtesy of the Foundation.
In November of 2020, Sloane McCabe and Alexandra Astorino collected non perishable items, snacks and toiletries for their senior project at Upper Dublin High School. Along with the Tommy Campbell Foundation, they had an extremely successful collection and donated these items to the Oncology Pantry at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. These families were in extra need of help with already having to suffer through a cancer diagnosis on top of navigating a pandemic. We feel extremely grateful to be able to help families during this difficult time.
During the Christmas holidays, gift cards were purchased by the Foundation and issued to cancer patients at St. Christopher’s Hospital. Since 2013, the overall total has been $4,700. Also, what with the COVID 19 pandemic, $1,000 worth of grocery gift cards were donated to the Oncology patients to alleviate any additional hardships they may encounter.
